Color photo. A Red-winged Blackbird, wings outstretched as it leaps from a thin tree. The brilliant red patches on its wings are prominently visible.

I’d noticed a Red-winged Blackbird repeatedly perching on this thin tree for a bit, and then flying away. It took a while, but I eventually managed to get a shot of it taking off.  Patience paid off.  🙂

I’ve had the good fortune to catch some other birds in flight recently, so they’re grouped (flocked?) together in today’s post.  These were taken both at my usual haunt, the Center for Urban Horticulture, and another favorite birding spot: Spencer Island.  Happy Flyday!
