Color photo. Three large leaves, on a dark background. They are going autumn yellow, with the rightmost having the most yellow, and the leftmost the least. The leaf veins on all three are dark green and prominent, particularly where they are surrounded by yellow.

This weekend I went back to the Chinook Bend Natural Area, which I’d first visited two months ago. At the time, I noted that it would probably be a good candidate for some autumn photography: lots of hardwood trees, so lots of leaves.

I’m probably right about that, but I apparently missed the window by a few days. What a difference two months make! Many of the trees there are going bare, and there wasn’t a lot of color left. Ah well!

It was an overcast afternoon, and it started spitting down rain while I was there, so I didn’t stay long. Since it was rather dark anyway, I just leaned into that with this set. It felt appropriate with Halloween around the corner.

As always, if you’d like to see one of these become a print in my store, let me know in the comments!
