Black and white photo. A single thin stalk growing up from the bottom of the frame. At the bottom are clusters of buds just beginning to open into blossoms. Further up the stalk, the buds are less and less open. The plant is strongly backlit but the background is dark, making the edges of everything very glowy.

Photography while the sun is low is frequently rewarding.  I get my beloved backlit leaves, but I also often get glowing, neon edges.

These were taken on a late afternoon walk through the Bellevue Botanical Garden a couple of weeks ago.  I had the macro lens on, looking mostly for “small”, but just because it can shoot small doesn’t mean that’s all it can be used for.  😀
