As I did last year, I accompanied some friends out to the Olympic Peninsula to catch the tail end of autumn.  On our previous trip we bumped into some folks collecting chantarelle mushrooms, and we came prepared to get a huge haul like they’d had.

So, of course, we barely found any.  Ah well.

It was cloudy and drizzly, typical weather for the time of year, but that worked for me just fine.  The colors popped, the clouds were low enough to play with the mountain tops, and the rain stayed away long enough for me to take some photos to bring back to you.  🙂

Color photo. A steep-sided valley with a swift flowing river at the bottom. Where the water churns over stones it is a pale green color. The valley slopes are heavily forested, with an even mix of moss-draped evergreens and trees in autumn gold. At the top, in the distance, the ridge begins to enter the clouds.
