Black and white photo. Tipsoo Lake, seen from the shore, surrounded by a thin layer of snow, from which short grass pokes through in many places. The far shore is lined with tall dark evergreens. Beyond, on the right, snow-capped Mount Rainier rises above the trees. Above it are streaks of wispy cloud. On the left, the sky is dominated by forming lenticular clouds, their edges glowing from the unseen sun behind them. The trees, mountain and clouds are reflected in the lake, only slightly disturbed by shallow ripples.

Last week was all about color, and this week is all about black & white.

I’m a fan of black & white photos of mountains, especially when the sky has some high wispy clouds to give it texture and interest, and Rainier really delivered.  Couple that with white snow around the lake, dark trees, and delicious reflections of it all in the water and I was very much in my happy place.

I’ve got a couple more I want to share next week, so keep an eye out for them, probably Tuesday or Wednesday.
