Color photo. A brilliant red maple leaf, pointing towards the viewer, its near end slightly out of focus. Behind it, are other red maple leaves growing from the same barely seen branch. Behind them all is a soft dappling of red and orange light.

It’s July 1st, and you know what that means: Happy Canada Day!

I was born, and mostly grew up, in the province of New Brunswick, which is where these photos were taken.  Autumn there is stunningly beautiful, with the maples changing to brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows.  My love for the season, and for backlit leaves generally, has its source in those woods.  And today gives me an out of season reason to share both.  😉
