Color photo. A sandy tidal flat, covered in pools of water, in the bottom half of the frame. Dead trees poke up from the sand in various places, and white birds line the edge of a pool. On the distant shore, an green tree-lined hill rises up, and beyond that, looming over all, is the snow-capped peak of Mount Rainier.

Another quiet week around here, so going back to last month’s visit to the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge for today’s shots.

One of the things I love about that place is the view of Rainier you get when you’re out on the boardwalk over the tidal flats.  On a good day it looms over the intervening hills in dramatic fashion, reflected in the water.  Which, I think, makes for a great shot from an angle you don’t often get to see.

And then looking in the other direction, at Nisqually river, you are sometimes graced with a couple of seals playing in the water.  Great stuff to see in every direction down there.  🙂
