Color photo. A stone bridge leads from the bottom of the frame to a dirt path, which leads to the bottom of a stone staircase. Trees grow beside the path, and over the staircase, in brilliant shades of autumn red, yellow, and orange.

Earlier this week I stopped by the Seattle Japanese Garden, in the hopes that the maples would be at peak.

I was not disappointed. Well worth the entry fee.

I grew up in the native range of the Sugar Maple, and their vibrant reds, yellow, and oranges are something I miss seeing every autumn. Japanese Maples are equally vivid, but they’re not native so you only see them where they’ve been planted, and the Seattle Japanese Garden is chock full of them. They scratch the “leaf peeper” itch pretty well, I have to admit.

I’m thinking about adding one of these to my print store, but haven’t decided which one to use. Let me know which one you’d choose in the comments!
